Rockefeller Global Family Office Adds Morgan Stanley's Graves Group in New York
As first reported by AdvisorHub.
Rockefeller Global Family Office continued its recruiting streak Friday, landing a Morgan Stanley team managing $500 million in assets in New York City, according to a source close to the move.
The incoming team, known as The Graves Group, is led by James E. Graves, a 29-year industry veteran, and includes client associate Jaslinne M. Lopez. Graves produced $3.5 million in assets, the source said.
Graves started his career as an intern in 1995 and became a full-time advisor in 1997 at Merrill Lynch, according to BrokerCheck and LinkedIn. He joined Morgan Stanley in 2019, where he held the title of Sports and Entertainment Director, a designation indicating that he derived a substantial portion of his revenue from athletes or entertainers. Neither Graves nor a Morgan Stanley spokesperson responded to a request for comment.
Friday's hire marks the seventh Rockefeller had made in eight weeks, according to the source. Earlier this month, the firm brought in another Morgan Stanley team managing $1 billion in assets, a UBS Wealth Management USA team with $1.5 billion, and a Raymond James and Associates group managing $350 million. Earlier in April, Rockefeller hired a $3 billion team from Merrill and a $1 billion team from Morgan Stanley.
The activity comes as Rockefeller, which has close to 200 teams, continues to expand its leadership. In February, the firm promoted Michael Outlaw, a Morgan Stanley alumnus who had been overseeing the New York Metro division and leading firm-wide recruiting efforts, to president of the wealth unit.
Rockefeller Global Family Office did not respond to a request for comment.
